Benefits

People look up oxytocin as Pitocin for labor and postpartum bleeding, and also as intranasal wellness/ASD research products. Only obstetric injectable uses are FDA-labeled; controlled evidence for social-bonding or autism core-symptom benefit is not established (largest pediatric ASD RCT negative).

Interactions & cautions

other uterotonics and vasoconstrictors in obstetric anesthesia contexts — Additive uterine or cardiovascular effects possible; follow obstetric labeling and institutional protocols. (review)
